Sweet potato mash and marshmallows

I’ve just about finished eating. Been a long day of turkey, mash potato, gravy and mimosa’s. This Thanksgiving thing has some legs. Same again tomorrow, with added online shopping for stuff I don’t need.

Today and tomorrow are a very welcoming break as work literally grinds to a halt as American’s eat, drink and watch (American) Football. I don’t know what American’s watched between 1621, when then the Pilgrims had their first harvest and 1920, when urban legend has it that the Chicago Tigers and Decatur Staleys (now the Chicago Bears) challenged each other to a Thanksgiving duel in the league’s inaugural season.

Thanksgiving is Christmas without any of the hassle of shopping for presents, and loose pine needles, although we did spend part of today putting up our Christmas tree, and the ever-primed-other-half spent time stealthily replacing Thanksgiving ornaments with Christmas ones.

It is day for giving thanks of course and thinking about those people that have been there for you. We made sure we did that before we tucked in. It’s also weirdly about sweet potato mash and marshmallows, bleurgh.

It has been a stressful few months, all work related, well Charlton haven’t helped in recent weeks. Work can wait a few days, and then I begin a travelling spell that Marco Polo will be proud off, but that is next week’s problem. For now it is all elasticated pajamas and a glass of Cabernet.
