No new CEO

After a few weeks of speculation Gavin Carter today put on record that the club and Dane Murphy have mutually agreed that he will not be taking up the role of Chief Executive Officer, as previously announced.

Murphy may or may not have been the right person to lead the club forward, but it is best that everyone moves on.

Carter is correct that the club have been doing alright without a CEO, Jim Rodwell is managing director, and seemingly chief negotiator this window. Warwick is the financial guy, Corey Boyd is administration with Carter taking the role of head of strategy with a responsibility to align objectives and provide much closer communication between the club and it’s investors.

The football club’s upward trajectory since Carter was promoted in December may not be a coincidence, likewise the investor’s increasing curiosity and financial backing.

Carter does have a day job though and his official title is non-executive chair of the board, so a full time CEO to be the external face of the football club is probably still required. Communication is an area that is lacking.

Murphy has obviously not been able to back his way out of his Vitesse Arnhem financial responsibilities and Charlton made it a requirement for him to do so. Vitesse are in a royal mess, but a regional group of investors have agreed to buy out Murphy and his pals, but the Dutch FA (KNVB) have yet to approve it.

CA looks like it appears for the better, after reading your links to Vitesse, as we don’t want yet another CEO, more or less being here for their own benefit and what they can get out of it!

Accordingly from Reading Today, there now appears to be a delay over signing Harvey Knibbs from Reading due to Dane Murphy not taking up the Role of CEO, which seems a bit odd! As obviously he hadn’t actually signed on the dotted line with Charlton due this issue, so surely he wouldn’t have been involved in any of the current transfers, which would have previously been agreed by whoever, including Knibbs?

Just hope we do sign him, as we 100% need a quality attacking midfielder, who can also score goals on a regular basis!
