Long week

It’s been a long week, especially since I’ve been flying around a bit, literally, but the expectation and nerves continue to build. The game isn’t even tomorrow, is it.

I hope everyone got a ticket for the 2nd leg that wanted one. There was the expected grumbles around ticket sales and allocations but the club apparently sold 19,000 tickets in two days. That is incredible and no wonder the ticket office was creaking under the volume of buyers.

Returned single tickets are all now that is available, and they are disappearing quickly.

I wonder if the club will segregate the Jimmy Seed Stand, rumours are that Wycombe have sold less than a 1,000 seats thus far.

The first leg ticket allocation sold out quickly as anticipated, just over a day in fact and 1,848 Addicks will be in attendance on Sunday evening.

Also, as anticipated there is absolute no news on any of the players who missed the Burton game. Nathan Jones tight lipped as always.

Short working week but how it’s dragged and yeah, the extra days wait not great except perhaps for some of the walking wounded maybe.

There was never gonna be any team news and rightly so really, suspect even the training photos on the club socials are carefully and tactically managed.

Me and my lad just managed to get our tickets for tomorrow, it’s a relatively local one for us, bit of optimism given the 6-1 aggregate but one things for sure, we won’t have it all our own way, this is Charlton after all 😬

Agreed, the days have really dragged this week. If we can get past Wycombe over two legs, it is Orient who really worry me They have somehow got a ‘second wind’ in terms of results. Yes, we have beaten them home and away, but they have found a top goalscorer in Kelman, and as a team are very quick on the break. With the size and space of the Wembley pitch in mind,it makes me very worried. I will be glued to the telly at 12.30 today.

I think we will get past Wycombe.

Stockport at Wembley and I believe we will be in the Championship next season.

Lots of tight narrow pitches in League 1 and Stockport use that to their advantage shutting down TC and TS in the away game.

At Wembley they won’t have the luxury of that tight pitch to get in your face.

our speed and width should be the difference.

Got to do a job on Wycombe first.

I’ve got nerves, anxiousness, expectations and can’t wait for the two legs against Wycombe. We .must treat each game as a final and I’m sure The coaching team will have the players fully focused.

I can’t get to Wycombe and will watch it on sky and my other half who hates football wants to watch it too…she understands my love of the club for over 50 years.

You will my cheering CA in California if we win !!!! 😃

l also have nerves, anxiousness, and expectations but for a different reason. Having followed Charlton at home and away since the 70s, l decided not to renew my Season Ticket towards the end of Thomas Sandgard’s reign. The home leg of the Play-off semi-finals will be first time l have visited the Valley since then. After getting my match ticket online – a pleasingly easy process, l found) I completed my Transport for London registration and Auto Pay registration for the Blackwall Tunnel. Now all l have to worry about is where to park! What a ******* minefield that is. It would be interesting to know what impact Greenwich Council’s residential parking scheme has had on Charlton’s attendances? As far as l can tell, Greenwich Council has done nothing to encourage fans to visit The Valley by road. I once lived round the corner from the ground. Now l am dependent on a car. COYR!

That’s great Norfolk. I’d head for the Hornfair Road / Charlton Park Lane and the roads around there. Very residential, it’s where my lot tend to park and then just walk through the village.

        COYR.

The sad news Norfolk is that the Council are about to do what they threatened in the first place and extend the current parking scheme, not only on matchdays to 9.00-9.00, but also the area it covers – which will make it even worse for fans. There is currently a ‘consultation’ but funnily enough those that live near the ground (us) have not been notified of any of this yet.

Also, they are moving over to charging extra based on emissions which is being introduced already in other parts of the Borough – not sure how this affects visitor permits.

It will definitely come in because they didn’t listen to residents last time, so certainly won’t again.

I hope the Club has been planning for this because it has been on the cards for some time now.

The Council’s behaviour is disgusting. Charlton Athletic draws so much business into the area yet the council arrogantly treat it as a cash cow. My understanding is that the vast majority of residents didn’t complain about the parking situation around the ground every other Saturday afternoon and the occasional night game. This is Labour ideology. The true extent of the parking problem only really comes to light when there is a sell-out crowd ie Thursday. The issue will need to be looked at again if and/or when PL football returns. Public transport is not the answer for everyone.
