Candlelight concert

I first started seeing my social media feeds filling up with pictures of dark eye-catching churches and historic theatres with a classical quartet sat amongst flickering candles at the end of last year, but candlelight concerts have been wowing audiences in hundreds of cities since 2020.

Candlelight Concerts has since became a successful brand under its parent company Fever, which is a global entertainment platform, and has struck upon a very winning formula.

The ingredients are simple. Pick an unusual venue in a city, hire local musician’s, find a subject’s play list that will entice audiences whether it is Chopin or Taylor Swift and fill the place with hundreds and hundreds of LED candles.

Last night we went to the Coldplay Candlelight Concert in Tampa which was held in the historic Centro Asturiano de Tampa, a once social club for Spanish immigrants that included amongst other things a bank, a library, a games room plus a nifty bar as well as a beautiful theatre.

The Listeso String Quartet all hail from the local area and they superbly played tribute to an hour and a bit of Coldplay songs from Clocks and Shiver to A Sky Full of Stars and Something Just Like This.

It was a lovely evening and something very different to see and listen to.

thanks for the story CA / well I’m now looking forward to Coldplay by Candlelight at Southwark cathedral later this month which also will be a change as the usual stop off at Borough Market of a Saturday lunch is for a different purpose.

    Hi CA,

We had the pleasure to attend a candlelit concert of Adele songs at St Marys Church in London recently and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

They’re really enjoyable and will attend more

I wonder if the local Spanish immigrants should be doing the same thing with flamenco or classical guitar, Albeniz or Rodrigo etc.

Nice format, sounds like you really enjoyed it.
