Uche Ikpeazu medical

I didn’t want to leave this story untouched.

After the JCH chase, offer and rebuke the new striker name of Uche Ikpeazu was a little bit of a let down at first but upon some journalistic research I began to quite like the thought of him signing.

He sounded just like the battering ram focal point Alfie May is missing and a big personality we could all get behind.

Except we weren’t given the opportunity to.

I understand the A, B and C list in transfer windows, but in the long line of the strange oddities happening at our club currently shipping Uche down from the Potteries to Sparrows Lane on Friday morning, giving him a full blown medical, but then blowing him off without so much as a ‘we’ll keep your name on file,’ is well, extremely odd.

Freddie Ladapo apparently had his medical after Uche and then immediately put pen to paper and was signed on loan from Ipswich. Meanwhile, Ikpeazu was back on his way to Euston Station after clearly not coughing enough for the Doc.

I wonder if this is a regular occurrence or one of those ‘only at Charlton’ moments?

I agree with you CA…we need players who want to play for us despite all the turmoil that is public
and players know players and the word spreads.
We have long lost the ‘family feel’ over the past years and having 19 permanent and temporary managers since Curbs left is embarrassing to say the least.
Many people I know shake their heads in disbelief at the sharp decline in stability.

Maybe Uchie failed the medical due to the cold hands of the medic ?

Or very simply, the medical showed something up that Charlton were unhappy with. With two of our main strikers in the ‘sick list’ im Aneke & Leaburn, the very last thing we need now is to have a 3rd one who is constantly on the bench because we cant play him for 90 mins, or alternatively in the treatment room!

Maybe word of an impending change of manager frightened Ikpeazu off?

Rumour was that in mid-week the Ladapo deal was off – so presumably we went in for Uche Ikpeazu only for the Ladapo deal to be re-ignited after the medical for Uche was set up.

It sounds to me as though we were going to go into the weekend with a new striker come what way and with JCH dragging his heels and the Ladapo loan deal on then off before warming up again we went for option C. Still he got a trip to south London for the day.
