My Top Five 2023 Favourite TV Shows

🔝5️⃣. I was spoilt for choice for great TV in 2023. My list of enjoyable TV shows was never ending and then narrowing it down to five was extremely difficult.

So much binge-worthy television out there, and I am always on the look out for a show I may have missed.

This was a tough category, but here are my My Top Five Favourite TV Shows 📺 that I watched in 2023:

1️⃣ White Lotus 1 & 2 (HBO)

Quirky and different with a great casting of dysfunctional characters such as Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya. Part satire, part drama, part soap. I binged both seasons and season 3 is on the way. The first series was set in Maui and the second in Sicily.

2️⃣ The Bear 1 & 2 (Paramount+)

I love cooking and am a bit of chef sycophant, so I had great hopes for this show. It was also set in Chicago at the end of the street I used to live on (photo). Luckily I was not disappointed and it received wide acclaim. Superbly directed the show was full of many frenetic episodes and some intense moments in the heat of the kitchen ran by Jeremy Allen White as Carmy.

3️⃣ Happy Valley (BBC)

After a 7-year wait we finally got the final installment of one of my favourite ever shows and it did not disappoint. Sarah Lancashire was brilliant as exhausted police officer Catherine Cawood as we sat on the edge of our seats until the last scene.

4️⃣ Hijack (Apple TV)

I downloaded this for a plane journey and it was an unexpected treat. With remnants of the great 24 Jack Bauer series, Idris Elba was excellent in this TV page turner about a corporate negotiator with a head full of life problems caught up on a hijacked plane. In hindsight it possibly wasn’t the best show to watch on a plane!

5️⃣ Beckham (Netflix)

My non-football-caring-other-half got me into this as I was going to give it a pass. The production was obviously skewed towards himself, but it showed us a deeply complex man who was part natural footballer and part a forward thinking brand icon. It brought back many football memories too.
