My Top Five 2023 Favourite Places
The return of my annual 🔝5️⃣ list begins with Favourite Places 🌃. I did what seemed like endless travelling this year especially since we moved stateside, but only an overnight pitstop with my dog in Savannah, Georgia was uncharted territory for me, so 2023 was really about rediscovering places.
So, eyes down then and these were my My 2023 Top Five Favourite Places 🌃:
1️⃣ Whistler, Canada
Named for the marmots that roam the area and whistle like a deflating balloon, we visited Whistler in March, the largest ski resort in North America. Whistler has all year round beauty and adventure and is a beautiful part of the world just 90 minutes from Vancouver.
2️⃣ Washington DC
The District of Colombia is a walking museum of history, power and influence. 67 square miles of wide criss-crossed boulevards lined with trees bursting into blossom, monuments, memorials and just about every federal government building you can imagine.
I have visited a few times, and in March accompanied by a deep blue sky as a canvas it was lovely to stroll this captivating city.
3️⃣ London

I lived in London for the first 30 years of my life. It is the greatest city in the world and it was lovely to walk around some of its most charming and inviting areas at Christmas especially with our daughter who doesn’t know London at all. It will always be home.
4️⃣ Savannah, Georgia
I stayed in Savannah with my dog as part of our road trip from New York to Sarasota in August. I had never been before so I took the dog on a long walk around its historic cobblestone streets. We walked along to the river, bypassed a live film set, and as the evening drew in strolled around beautiful squares surrounded by stunning homes ending up with a pint and a bowl of water.
5️⃣ Las Vegas
I am regular visitor to sin city mostly on work trips, yes I know nice job if you can get it, and it is an assault on one’s senses. I find you need to be in and out, but when you are in, it is the most impossible playground. I had two fun long weekends there in 2023.

You’ve obviously never visited Margate ……………….
And that should surely be the end for Appleton……………
