Slobodan Tedic makes it a wrap
The 23-year old Man City striker has signed on a season-long loan. He did get his L1 legs at Barnsley last season but mostly from the bench. He scored 4 goals.
Prior to that he scored 2 in 21 starts plus copious sub appearances for PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie. That is not a particularly stunning goal record. He has never played for Man City, although their scouts saw something in the Serbian to give him a four-year contract
We finally at least get a striker in after Miles Leaburn got injured two months ago.
We also signed players to fill holes in the squad – a striker, a midfielder, a full back and a centre-back, but these are bench fillers, young, inexperienced, possibly not match-fit gambles. Not first team impactful players that can carry the ambition of promotion.
Or does that ambition lie solely with the fans?
If nothing else these last couple of weeks has told us what we need to know about these new owners. Wool truly pulled over our eyes, but it is sadly what we have become hardened to.
Charlie Kirk and a now injured Conor McGrandles remain, although Diallang Jaiyesimi did go to St. Johnstone on loan.
The Fankaty Dabo one was weird. Obviously there were issues with a medical, but he has played more games in the last few seasons than about two thirds of our squad put together as his condition was managed. He also came flying through a U21 game very recently.
Talk of bids for players and a top six budget were simply soundbites, and now we are forced to rely on Andy Scott in selecting a manager that can cobble this young group together with no identity and a more than ever disillusioned fan base and create some impetus to get us up the table, or is it wash, rinse and repeat.

Rinse and repeat CA. Recall all those pre summer months ago when gobby Methven told us there is money to spend. Well I have no doubt there is, but spending any of it……………..no hope and Bob Hope. Even the fee for May was allegedly paid for by a club sponsor to stop him signing for Bristol. And this window, loans and those signed cost nothing. Where was the statement of intent signing?
And most damningly, I understand Powell – who I think most fans would welcome back in a heartbeat – or would you really rather have Appleton or Cowley, did not turn the offer down because it was interim, but rather because he looked at the squad and thought – not good enough.
Now to put my £50 on Bowyer!!
There are fees with free signing .. they go direct to the players. Loans are generally about who is paying the salary… how much percentage etc.. plus a signing fee for the player. So you need money to do any transfer business.. be it frees or loans..
Hmm.. it is easy to be critical.. but what players were you expecting? The club is in a mess.. we are not going to be attracting experienced players with big transfer fees.
At least they got players in.. if there was no or little activity.. then the criticism would be about that..
i think we give them all a chance.. Holden’s tactics and set up were questionable.. the goals kept being conceded , despite his brash words of ‘ hard work and commitment’ of his defensive players.
The last few games .. were diabolical.. nothing had changed.. so a brave decision or stupid one.. time will judge that one. But u can see why he was sacked..
I agree; give them all a chance. I don’t understand why people expected any different.
DH repeatedly said during camp that he was training the boys hard so they’d be the fittest squad in the league. Either he trained them TOO hard or he had no concept of the fitness levels required. Nice enough guy, but multiple reasons existed for the sacking.
Wow, someone beat me to it.
Scott must have lumped the window money on…..
Bowyer now 1/2 fav with BV (Cowley/Appleton both 8/1)
RTG, I take your point but I don’t think the disbursement costs are what we considered money to be spent .Yes I agree though lets see what they can do. Lets hope they play, unlike those 2 from Spurs/Chelsea loaned with fanfare and never even saw the squad let alone the pitch. But it was clear that although we loved DH as “one of the boys”, he had lost the plot and was even rumoured to have lost parts of the dressing room, let alone his alleged fractious relationship with Scott.
In Bowyer we trust!!
COYR
Houndal .. yes I can see what you are saying, although we have had some great loan signings too … albeit there have been some real ‘wronguns’ , especially under the Roland era!
Looking at recent transfer fee activities.. what players can we say ‘ we should signed him’ ? Last season Ipswich went big and signed a number of players.. Derby did the same a few seasons back and ended up in trouble…
Anyway let’s back the boys . COYR!
It’s all we can do Rose 🌹 👓. Got to get behind them. COYR.
Oh christ CA. I’m not even bothering with my list of new players. Just shout for the ones on the same side as Dobbo. It’s a miracle anyone wants to come to a club run by such a bunch of ….. words fail me.
You’re exactly right! Players to fill holes. Little investment and the playoffs out of our grasp. I think this is going to get messy!
We all knew it really. Despite the lies that flowed time and again about how we were tracking players that would enable us to compete at the top end of the league table. We end up with a mish mash of panic incomings again. I refuse to believe any of yesterdays acquisitions were on our ‘wanted’ list. Anyone with the slightest bit of optimism of us obtaining ( let alone buying ) players of quality and/or experience, must now have seen the light.
If Scott didn’t get on with Holden, he’s gonna love Bows!
Oh well now we probably have another Polish Pete to add to the nonexpirenced players all brought in to push us up into the top six, Greg Brown is 100% right!
As for Bowyer coming back, please noooooo, I probably would hand my season ticket back!
