Charlton Athletic 1 Peterborough United 1
The team that never draws draws against a team that does it a lot.
A very dull first half, a much better 2nd half and a draw probably a fair result. We missed a couple of gilt-edged chances but they hit the bar twice and Maynard-Brewer made a very good double save in the first half.
Too early obviously to judge Dean Holden, but the owner went out of his way to hire someone the play a particular system, spent pre-season and 20 league games trying to hone it, then he sacks him and now we have to re-invent the wheel.
I liked that Holden pitched Kanu and Leaburn together and we saw that work well in the 2nd half culminating in the goal, we should have been further ahead but we, as is our want, gifted them an equalizer.
Holden gave Dobson the armband and he was excellent, but here we are again with the bulk of the playing squad not good enough, a manager inserting a new style of play, without the playing staff to do it and we’re approaching a transfer window which we are 100% reliant on, but nervous that the club will sell our best assets.
We have to get to January first…
Dean Holden: “We score a great goal through Miles – it’s a brilliant ball from Daniel. Daniel and Miles want to run in behind, I’d hate to play against the two of them.”
Grant McCann: “We’d have won it then we’d have deserved to win it, based on the first half.”
