Crowd troubles

What are the thoughts on attendance on Saturday?
Ordinarily with a good prevailing wind of optimism there’d be 20,000 at The Valley on Saturday, but I don’t reckon it will be anywhere near that.
The official home attendances lurched tremendously last season as one minute we were adding every freebie and pre-sold seat to create these fairytale bumper crowds, and the next the club were just counting bums on seats, so who knows what the brains trust of the marketing department will do, or get told to do, for this season.
Derby County will bring with them 3,000+ and will undoubtedly make a lot of noise. The Rams had 31,000 at Pride Park on Saturday.
The club are keeping pretty tight lipped on how many season tickets have been sold, but I would not be surprised if the number falls way short of 10,000.
Traditionally August crowds are light due to people being away on holiday, but the opening EFL day did see bumper attendances across the country. They were the biggest for 13 years and this with a full blown rail strike.
I do hope that we get a decent crowd to see Ben Garner’s opening game at The Valley, but I would not be shocked to see The Valley half full.
Totally agree with you CA….Derby will sell out the Jimmy Seed Stand and I forcast a home fan gate of between 10-12000.
The club should think about offering pre match entertainment to attract the younger fans and focusing on getting fans into the stadium earlier.
This will increase food and drink sales and attract more families to games.
At present come 2.30….few fans in seats and just pitch announcer, screen content and dire music.
The club needs to make attending games an event.
Still I’m hoping for a win fit Garner and the squad to increase confidence.
Maybe Thomas could crank out a rock song or two?
Noooooooooo please please spare the thought…once was bad e ough and embarrassing
Also……a chance to say thanks to Jason Pearce for his service to the club…
The event that matters is the 90 minutes on the pitch. If they get that right people will come – its as simple as that.
That goes without saying but we need to fill the stadium….explore and implement strategies to do this……club needs to chat to Mick Everett who did increase attendance figures.
Build it and they will come LP. Especially at £37 a pop for my old AC (née East) Stand seat.
I’m sure the club reported season ticket sales of around 7,300, although likely more now.
They did Andre. About a month ago.
Unfortunately, hand on heart Derby will take us to the cleaners.
No more than 15,000 at best.
Build it and they will come – sadly not unless some fore power is added.
Don’t underestimate Liam Rosenoir….class manager, tactician and motivator.
He will have the team ready to prove the relegation was not an indication of the squad.
Bad ownership and breaking rules resulted in points deductions.
