Graham Tutt RIP

Very sad news broke tonight about the passing of Graham Tutt. The former Addicks’ goalkeeper died after suffering complications following recent heart surgery. Graham was 65.

Graham Tutt is the first name of the team I can name verbatim from my very first Charlton game versus Sunderland in 1975 at The Valley. Ironically it was at the reverse game at Roker Park on 21st February, 1976 that Graham suffered his awful career ending injury all in front of the Match of Day cameras. He was just 19, with a prosperous career ahead of him.

The Brockley boy did try to restart his career in South Africa before settling in Atlanta where he has dedicated his life to coaching football to kids through camps, clubs, schools and universities. He leaves a wife and two children.

Forever a friend of the club, if you haven’t read his book I urge you to, we never got to know how good Graham Tutt would have been as a professional goalkeeper, and now we’ve lost him forever. Very sad. RIP Graham.

My thoughts and condolences go out to Graham’s family and friends, as well as Charlton players who knew him.
He was a fantastic keeper and above all a really nice guy….

CA, I was at the valley for that game – we lost I seem to remember. Nothing much changes…..
It was about the time I started watching regularly as my brother had a business opposite the ground so parking was a doddle – straight in and straight out!
Sadly we are all at an age now when these notices become more and more regular.
    Very sad..

Jason Euell has left the club….not sure a good idea but wish him all the best.
He can now continue to develop his important role developing England players with the F.A.
I’ve known Jason for years and his skills and knowledge are insurmountable.

RIP Graham , you were a true gentleman , who’s career was cut short . You along with all my long term Charlton players , friends and Charlton family the club will be playing 4th division football very soon . Losing Jason now we’ll the writing was on the wall . I hear Yeovil town , along with Rochdale and Swindon have a few bargain players to buy . Certainly no insult to the clubs i mentioned there . Apparently they can all play a musical instrument .

    RIP CAFC

I know you think I am crazy but I actually think TS has done a deal with Duchâtelet . Build the academy because we need to pay the bills and sell on our talent . Bring in lower league players and manager . Get rid of staff that know their football and the club really well . The supporters are hard core hence they were visiting me in Belgium . Support will decline because not in a million years will we reach the play offs . We can try and sell the club at a reasonable price . Steve Gallen if he were a gent should resign immediately . I hear CAFC are interviewing the Accrington Stanley scout time replace him
