My Top Five 2021 Charlton Games

🔝5️⃣. My final 2021 Top Five I’ve saved for my favourite Addicks’ matches. By my calculation we played 58 times throughout 2021 although picking five hardly evoked a rush of everlasting memories.
Thanks to Charlton TV I see more games a season now than I have ever done in 47 years of support. Even in my most active Charlton going days I probably saw 35-40 matches a season depending on cup runs…. okay 36 then 😄.
Charlton TV and iFollow before it have transformed watching Charlton from overseas, therefore if I can face it I tune into every game, so feel in a good position to select My 2021 Top Five Charlton Games ⚽️, even though many were instantly forgettable.
1️⃣ Charlton Athletic 2 Plymouth Argyle 0, November 20th, 2021
An easy top pick for me as this was also my first Valley visit for almost 3 years to the day. What a performance. What an atmosphere. What a day. I have long since stopped pinning my hopes on a Charlton game headlining a trip home. I nowadays try to compartmentalize the 90 minutes as part of a whole day out with family and mates, but this game had bloody everything.
2️⃣ Sunderland 0 Charlton Athletic 1, October 23rd, 2021
Jacko’s first game and an unrecognizable performance from those that went before it. Full of core traits we all hold dear – passion, spirit, commitment. Sunderland had won every league game at home this season, and then up on the LNER comes this rag tag of bunch Addicks led by a man dressed like the bloke from the Milk Tray advert
3️⃣ Charlton Athletic 1 Rotherham United 1, November 2nd, 2021

I picked this game as it was great to watch and Rotherham are the best team I have seen this season. It was the Millers however wishing for the final whistle as we went for all three points in injury time in front of the Covered End after Washington had got a deserved equalizer. The pride was definitely back.
4️⃣ Plymouth Argyle 0 Charlton Athletic 6, April 20th, 2021
A crazy result that equalled our best ever away win towards the end of last season. Laughably we didn’t get out of our own half in the first ten minutes as Plymouth pressed from the off and forced corner after corner, but once we got one, scored by JFC, we seemed to score from every attack. Easily Nigel Adkins best moment as our manager.
5️⃣ Charlton Athletic 2 Ipswich Town 0, December 7th, 2021
A tremendous win and display as Jacko’s caretaker form continued into December. There was a hair on the back of the neck moment when Alex Gilbey ran half the length of the field to jump onto Jacko, Jason and the rest of the coaching staff when he scored the second goal to ease any doubts and lift The Valley roof.
