Chris Gunter signs
This one has been on the horizon for a while, and Bowyer and Gallen have finally gotten themselves a right back with Welsh international Chris Gunter signing on a two-year contract with an option of a third.
Gunter has 97 caps and could make that 98 tonight when England host them at Wembley.
News also comes that Adam Matthews has moved on. I thought Matthews was our best player post-lockdown but rightly feels he can get a contract with a Championship club, and we had to move on as well. Gunter at 31 has played over 500 games and never below the second tier.
There’s a little bit of Curbs in Bowyer’s selection of players. Pearce, Pratley, Watson and now Gunter are all doing their coaching badges and have each played more than 500 games but all four still have a lot left in the engine and retain that hunger that has given them their careers.
A hunger that Bowyer, who played over 600 games, demands and respects.
Another Welsh player…
Solid, experienced and it seems he has a bit of a fanbase in China:
