Bowyer critical of Morgan

Lee Bowyer cheery, positive and brutally honest in today’s pre-weekend press conference.
Cheery that he has an almost full squad to pick from, positive after last week’s crucial win and a high energy week of training, but brutally honest about some of his players.
There’s been many games this season where Bowyer could not name a full bench, but with Cullen, Taylor, Williams, Hemed, Oztumer, Forster-Caskey and Amos all fit enough for action and with Aneke and Lapslie to next two to come back, and then add in the three transfer deadline additions, Bow has for the first time in months choices.
He has an ability to pick teams for opponents, for occasions, rotate players, rest players and drop players. He can also send players out on loan and based on today’s conversation with the press Morgan, Davison and Dempsey will all drop into the National League to get some game time. Bromley could do with some help after their recent drop in form.
Bowyer has been critical of the young midfielders before, specifically their nativity defensively, and Morgan was again the subject of some tough love openly blamed for two goals. As George Graham would take a young Bowyer to one side to give him some honest truths, I do hope Lee is doing the same with Morgan, because to some characters public criticism can be damaging.
Morgan I hear is mature beyond his years, and I think he deserves football above level 5. This is an important few months for him as his Addicks contract expires in the summer.
Another player currently not playing is Chris Solly. Solly, of course is a top pro and Bowyer did say that the two of them had spoken, but there is no doubting to rise of Adam Matthews in the past couple of months.
Bowyer will have at least 22 players to pick from for Saturday. It’s a been long awaited headache for the manager.
Bowyer at times needs to criitcise himself as well as Morgan, there have been numerous occasions when he has subbed Morgan or Williams and replaced them with a more defensive player and the result has suffered. He seems to pick on Morgan more than any one else. As Morgan’s contract is up in the summer he may be wise to move to a club that will appreciate his talent. There are several other players who have justified criticism but nothing has been said.
