Stoke City 3 Charlton Athletic 1

I was on an airplane for the duration of the game. Sounds as if I was the lucky one. Sounded as if there were no marks of encouragement today. We are in a relegation scrap, no doubts at all.
Stoke have had a good home record since their managerial change and have a squad of players belying their league position but if you play crap, crap is what you get and we need to quickly file this one and move on because Tuesday will be harder still.
Bowyer made some changes. Purrington came in for Doughty and Davis for Sarr as we went with a flat back four. Yet we sounded poor defensively and for the umpteenth time conceded early after the re-start after Purrington had superbly got us back in the game on the stroke of half-time.
We were 3-1 down by the time Bowyer reacted with a couple of subs and we now haven’t won away since August. There was no McGeady as he was ill, and Hemed wasn’t felt like he could make a difference and wasn’t used from the bench. I’d put Davison on the bench quite frankly.
Safe journey home Addicks. This is going to be a long month.
Addicks at the Bet365:
Bow: “There were too many players that weren’t at it today, that’s the reality. It was nowhere near as good as they can play.”
Elsewhere: Luton lost at home to Cardiff and Wigan to Preston. Huddersfield beat QPR 2-0 and Middlesbrough were 2-1 up at Brentford but lost 3-2. Barnsley drew 1-1 with Sheffield Wednesday. Blackburn lost 1-0 at Ewood to Fulham.

A very poor performance, once again failing to defend the far post in a set play situation for the first goal. I continue to be baffled why all loan players brought in were midfielders, we needed at least one defender. I agree with your comment that Davison should be on the bench his high energy game unsettles defenders and makes space for colleagues. To send him out on loan would be a bad move as Taylor could pick up another injury and Bonne will need to ease his way back to form after his injury. The prolonged wait for Hemed to make a worthwhile contribution has gone on too long I would rather go with Davison. I am not a fan of Oztumer and Williams is not as effective as he should be and cannot play a full game, we need McGeady to play.
Noticeable that Bowyer’s criticism was general and not specific to individuals, but whipping boy Morgan wasn’t playing. Was Fosu last season’s whipping boy?
We were truly awful CA. Its difficult to pinpoint what went wrong as nothing was right. Stoke weren’t brilliant but very much deserved their win. even when we scored I didn’t initially react as I expected to miss – only realised it when my son elbowed me on the nose! added to that awful last 30 mins against Barnsley our returnees and new imports are having no impact. It ain’t looking good and that tame window business could cost us
