Charlton Athletic 0 Fulham 0

A lot to be positive about tonight. Lee Bowyer signs a 3-year contract, a whole throng of players re-appeared on the bench and in the starting eleven. We keep a clean sheet for the first time in 17 games, we hold a promotion chasing Fulham side to a draw and we end the week another point off the bottom three.
Not a game for the perfectionist, but we defended resolutely with Josh Cullen back in the middle, which I suspect was no coincidence. All hail Josh, no easing this bloke back. Bang. 90 minutes. Thank you.
I hope talking to West Ham about Cullen’s availability is very high on Mr Southall’s to do list. You Mr Executive Chairman have work to do.
Hemed and Oztumer started. Williams, Taylor and Green is an impactful three to bring on. Doughty was excellent again, still learning, he is a joy to watch.
We were more of a threat 2nd half especially after Williams came on, but as anticipated we conceded a lot of possession but fortunately Fulham were missing the goalscoring threat of Mitrovic and Knockaert, but it’s hard to feel sorry for anyone missing players with injury. Maybe some of their fans were injured too. The reason why they didn’t make the journey!
A good day, there will be bad days to come, but lots of signs that there will be more good than bad.
Now we get to rest up for 10 days and Bow will have a bigger group on the training pitch to select from. Importantly we need the transfer fairy to be kind to us and we can then hit February like we attacked August.

Bow: “I’m over the moon. Like I said, I love the club. Me and my staff have worked hard to get the club to where it is. And we want to get it further and build so I’m delighted. Three years is a good contract for me.”
Elsewhere: Forest and Reading drew 1-1.

You write about the positives but I think Pearce who added solidity to the back four is worthy of mention. Cullen had a good game and 90 minutes should improve his match fitness. I thought Oztumer Hamed and Morgan had poor games and Green made little contribution, Doughty’s surging runs forward were impressive but not his final ball he is stronger on his left foot and should play on the left like an old fashioned winger but that option appears to have disappeared in the modern game and wide left is Williams or Green;s position. Aneke was not on the bench after scoring 3 goals on Saturday for U23’s so is he injured again.
We now have 10 days before the Barnsley game which we need to win, let’s hope Taylor is fit to start and Hamed and Oztumer are not required Davison must at least be on the bench,
Yep. Pearce also brings good organizational skills and I think in a back four we look more compact.
Davison was unfortunate but needed a break. That boy has put everything on the line the last few weeks and a made a very positive impression.
