Charlton Athletic 1 Bradford City 0

Another three points in the pocket, not an awful lot more to say than that.

The first half sounded decent enough and we had already created a couple of chances before Lyle Taylor finished well to put us ahead. The Bantams had chances too, but we really should have been two up at the half when the livewire Taylor saw a long range shot hit the post and then blazed over when it was easier to score.

A second goal may have seen an easier 2nd half for the Addicks, although in all honesty City showed why they look relegation certs as they struggled to impose themselves on the game as Charlton laboured.

David Ball did hit the woodwork though and Fosu scissor-kicked over late as we held on for the victory.

We sounded as we just didn’t click yesterday and it was no walkover as some people may have expected, but still a clean sheet and a goal will always be enough. Cullen, Bauer and Taylor got the most praise from Addicks at the game.

Addicks at The Valley: Doctor Kish;
Bow: “At this stage of the season it doesn’t matter how you win, what the score is, you tick it off, you get the three points and move on.”
Elsewhere: Luton are surely home and hosed after another win. They won at Bristol Rovers 2-1. Barnsley were pinned back by Coventry 2-2. Donny have turned the corner beating Walsall 3-1, whilst Sunderland and Portsmouth meet in the Checkatrade Trophy at a Wembley today. Both clubs have sold 40,000 tickets.

    I would add Sarr and Phillips to the plaudits but the lack of a viable partner for Taylor continues to worry. Despite the praise post match of Vetokele by Bowyer he does not impress me.
    Bradford were poor and we were allowed too much room and not put under pressure when on the ball.
    Since Phillips recent run in the team Premier League goalkeepers Pickford,DeGea,Azilbalaga and Allison have all made mistakes. Phillips has developed into a safe pair of hands and his distribution yesterday was very good, he reminds me of Rob Elliot.
