After being ambushed by puppet and puppeteer last week, the fans forum had another crack at getting together last night (Monday). This time Steve Gallen joined to answer questions on transfer strategy and contract renewals. Things close to Addicks hearts after a tough end of January when Karlan Grant was sold and Lee Bowyer wasn’t allowed to replace him.
The meeting notes are here.
All was going reasonably well, well better than last week, until Gallen talked about the incoming transfer process. Gallen said that old yellow teeth will take a look at the player that Gallen and Lee Bowyer suggests, which is understandable as he signs the cheques. However, then to much laughter and disbelief Gallen said that he and Bowyer have also to seek talent spotter extraordinare Thomas Driesen’s blessing.
Driesen’s role was once denied but then two years ago it surfaced that the pre-pubescent Sid Viscous lookalike, in between games of Football Manager, was the brains behind Roly and Katrien’s stupendous transfer policy. And unbelievably he is still on the payroll and still advising and offering suggestions.
Gallen I’m pretty sure planted Driesen’s name into last night’s meeting for good reason, and then went on to say that he has a good relationship with him, and that it’s not unusual for clubs to have transfer adivisors. Yeah, sure like people like Graham Carr and Steve Walsh, not a bloke on Twitter with 263 followers.
Just sell the club.
Yes apparently stated the RAT will not lower his price, whatever that is.
Was great in Edward Scissorhands.
