Walking wounded

Last Christmas I gave you my heart
The very next day you gave it away
This year to save me from tears I gave it to Lyle Taylor
Big day for Lyle Taylor tomorrow against his former side for whom played 133 games, and a club he still has strong opinions about. Taylor left Fratton Park on Tuesday night in a protective boot after taking a kick on the foot, but according to the manager nothing will stop Taylor playing on Saturday.
Karlan Grant looks a bigger doubt, he was having a scan on his hamstring yesterday, but other walking wounded Bielik, Marshall and Lapslie should all be alright. By the way I’m obsessed with this video clip.
George Lapslie, as Bow would say, became a man on Tuesday night. On loan at Chelmsford City last year, he couldn’t get a game and was recalled. The 21-year old has been at club since he was 12, he has an older brother, also a midfielder at Colchester, but our boy George is really endearing himself to Addicks’ fans. The heart of Scott Parker, the energy of Lee Bowyer.
Meanwhile Lapslie’s academy partner Joe Aribo is getting looks from all over the place. Southampton, Derby and Tottenham are all keeping tabs as he refuses to sign a new contract, one apparently that was half of an original offer. Good work Roland..
This report this week suggests that Aribo’s reputation is growing across the channel as well with both Eintracht Frankfurt and Benfica considering bids. The January transfer window will be as precarious as ever it seems.
