Robinson resigned

This story will clearly develop over the next 24 to 48 hours but it is now known that Karl Robinson tendered his resignation to owner Roland Duchatelet before the Blackpool game. The Belgian refused to accept his resignation, but Robinson has since offered again.

With Oxford United, said to be appointing a new manager today, in the background and potential Australian owners said to prefer Harry Kewell, Robinson’s reign at The Valley looks to be coming to an end.

What a bloody mess.

Perhaps this is why the players have all but downed tools for the season? On Saturday night I found myself relieved that we kept a clean sheet v Fleetwood and didn’t lose, then I found myself wondering why I was celebrating a draw against a team in L1’s relegation zone. If the players know that KR wants out and/or is about to get sacked then perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that they have all but given up. The real miracle is tat we are somehow still in 8th place.

Those worried that the sale of the club would derail the promotion bid for this season are now seeing that prophecy unfold. Of course, after 5 years under Roland, what’s another season of mid-table in League One? You cant blame Robinson for jumping before he’s pushed, with his love of living in Milton Keynes, Oxford makes sense I suppose.

We have no CEO, no CFO so why not let Robbo go too…

….. and JJ and Lee Bowyer take the reigns for the last 10 games, Charlton get into the play-offs and ‘do a Millwall’ and get promotion…..!!

Well, you can dream, can’t you? Mind you, it’s either dream or suffer continuing nightmares…. I’m seriously worried about the Aussies, they seem to have had to scratch around to get enough dosh to buy the club so they wouldn’t appear to have the money to do a re-build job on the team in the summer that is so desperately needed.
Harry Kewell….? Not every great player makes the step up to manager – and although he was good he was hardly a ‘great’…. He won’t do a (Sir) Chris Powell and get promotion in his first full season, that’s for sure.

….. and so the nightmare goes on…….
