No excuses

With the season effectively over unless we can do what we haven’t managed to do all season and that is put a run of wins together (only twice have we won back to back games) and keep a clean sheet, which we have only done twice since Christmas, then if nothing else it would be pleasing if Karl Robinson and team can at least give us something to smile about tonight.

Shrewsbury we beat comfortably in the early weeks of the season but like others embattled in relegation, other than Coventry probably, the Shrews have put some results together recently and I am sure they will feel they can brush our confidence lacking team aside.

The form tables may say otherwise but honestly Robinson can have no excuses tonight. Let us please not hear of responsibility, blaming the referee, the players, a losing culture, a lack of playing squad, young players being young, hitting the woodwork 50 times and my personal favourite, issues he can’t talk about!

Go out and win the game mate. Leave the taking on the pitch.

With the season over, I can see no benefit in playing any of the loanees. Phillips can gain some more experience in goal, and its a good chance to give some of the other promising youngsters from the academy factory some first team experience ahead of next season

    • Yep. Think it’s called the shop window BC. Although don’t disagree with your philosophy.

I think you may have this the wrong way round. I’m fairly confident we have blown any chance of the play offs, but on the contrary, if we continue our brilliant recent run of results, the tail end of the season may yet contain some excitement as we descend into another unnecessary relegation battle. I’d like to say we have a good enough squad to make tat imposible, but they seem keen to prove otherwise, and the confidence has flown the roost again. To be honest, stealing a win tonight woulp probably put a lot of that to rest, but Karl seems wedded to his 4-2-3-1, and his desire to inform opponents how we are going to set up prior to kick off, so at the very least, we can be certain the Shrews will know a lot more about what they can expect than we can. This could be a long night.

    • Ken, it could be a long week and Roly will be feeling very uncomfortable by Sunday. We need a couple of wins to make us okay I think, and we must be capable of that, mustn’t we?

Expect Karl to open up his big book of excuses again.

It’s not verbal diarrhoea that comes from Robinson’s mouth that is most worrying, but that he appears to actually believe it!

a2c I just wonder how far down the league structure our club has to sink before your myopic eyesight takes in just what is happening in front of you to our beloved club?

I often wonder about your identity – I think I’ve ‘sussed’ you out…. You have to be that rather large individual who sits next to M/s Night Meire at home games …. you have to be someone close to her or who relies upon her for your salary, but there again given your jibberish writing you can’t hold a very responsible job, can you?

Time is running out for Robinson … within a few weeks, certainly before the end of March, the way things are going the club are going to be involved in a major struggle against relegation. The low ability, shell-shocked squad that we have in the first team probably only need a few wins to prevent that scenario from coming true – but if we can’t take points off of Oxford and Bury at the Valley I can’t see many points being won at the likes of Shrewsbury or Northampton….
In fact Robinson and a2c are very similar…. they both have ideas which they are unwilling to change no matter what the evidence is in front of them. The latters ongoing support for the regime is as hard to fathom as the formers reluctance, or inability, to change his lamentable 4-2-3-1 formation

  8. Any view that supports the manager and owner at the same time is contradictory IMO, As our richest ever owner hasn’t and doesn’t support his manager’s. KR “I need a least two good players in every position” ie a squad. No sympathy Karl, as this statement would probably become a chant/mantra if you put all the ex-managers in the same place at the same time,You must have known that KR. As for Katerine M, regardless of sex and nationality putting a young person with no previous CEO or football related experience in charge of running a football club! emm. Why would anyone do that? A. only if you didn’t ” don’t really care about winning” as RD said himself! You don’t have say anymore.Sadly we are at this moment no more than a player farm, being run very badly by an absentee owner with no interest.Good luck to all going to Belgium, where they will have local support from other network victims, who also want their club to be professionally run and competitive. Is that too much for any supporter to ask for?

Mmmm our problem all season is lack of goals and late giveaways.
In the six games thru feb we have thrown away two valuable points at the death twice, failed to score in matches where we went behind early enough to have hit back losing all three 1-0. The only bright spot was the Rochdale 3-3 where we actually showed some resolve.

Robinson is a clown. End of. He dont have a clue and blames everthing and everyone but himself. I never wanted him in charge and he is proving me how right i was. Chicago has it right and having just seen the result 4-3 defeat. Taxi for Robinson.

……and after scoring 3 goals at Shrewsbury this evening – but letting in 4 – Robinson’s Charlton (they are not our Charlton any more, are they?) now find themselves a mere 6 points from the relegation places.
Squeeky bum time throughout March and April I fear as Duchatelet and Meire succeed in their aim of totally destroying Charlton Athletic.

I hope the 200 going over the Channel to visit RD over the weekend find their numbers swollen to at least double that number – he can’t argue that he has 200 disgruntled ex-employees let alone 400! Good luck to all of you…. you are a credit to the football club that was, not as it is…
