Billy Davies eyes
Dour, paranoid, control freak Billy Davies is the latest name to be linked with the Charlton job. Davies is a serial authority hater who bears grudges. Roland Duchatelet, Katrien Meire and Davies are a match made in hell and either the media are bored of inactivity and silence coming out of the club or Meire wants to practice her fine man-management skills.
Davies star has waned, but that is the aisle that we are shopping, either that or the one marked cheap imports. The 51-year old Glaswegian last managed second time around at Nottingham Forest, which ended in chaos in March 2014. By the time he left, just 13 months after his homecoming, he had managed to upset just about everyone not just at the club, but in the city! Forest have hardly improved since though, and Davies record is better than any other Forest manager this past decade.
Richard Murray and Billy Davies may still have each other’s phone numbers in their phones after the two failed to agree terms after Curbs left. Davies wanted to carry on where Curbs had left off. Murray wanted to restructure the football side of things and have Davies working with a director of football and an existing coaching staff. Davies did not return Murray’s call after being told of Murray’s plan. It was fine though because we got Iain Dowie instead and never looked back….
Unless Davies is desperate and Duchalelet has had an epiphany the odds of this working are about as long as Katrien Meire’s nose. If it does happen expect more than beach balls and flares to be flung around The Valley next season.

After the last Murray-Davies encounter, when Davies simply drove north never to respond to Murray’s revised offer, it will be interesting to see what Muzza has to say about this. Appointment of Davies would confirm our desperation and Murray’s complete and utter lack of any say whatsoever.
Of the rumoured candidates I would like to see Adkins get the job. I think he would be a better ‘fit’ for Charlton. Perhaps though the emergence of Billy Davies means that Adkins is no longer in the frame.
Terry – I am with you. Adkins is a ‘Charlton man’ I would agree. But if it is to be Adkins why hasn’t he signed up yet? It is 12 days since Sheff U sacked him and replaced him with Wilder within the day. Have to assume they couldn’t agree terms or that Katrien hasn’t got around to it on her ‘to do’ list. #NoRush
Mind you Davies would shake things up a bit.
