Who is to blame?

Football is all about the blame game, whether we like it or not. Personally my only blame laid at the door of Bob Peeters was his tactical naivety, and as time went on I questioned whether he was able to get his points across to the players.

However Peeters was responsible for introducing a momentous change in the way Charlton played the game. Some of our play was truly inspiring and I thank him for giving that to me, albeit for a only a tiny amount of time, but it is something I will remember.

Peeters’ trouble, our trouble, is the squad is made of straw and has more perforations in it than a Belgium waffle.

Those of you that have read this Blog for a while will know I have never been convinced by our owner and his method of network ownership. However like all blind followers I am always willing to be persuaded and truly want to believe in something. Otherwise what point is there of being a football fan.

A vision is only possible with communication but it has never been forthcoming save for some heavily contrived and lame video interviews.

I accept that Roland Duchâtelet is not stupid or wants to run the football club I love into the ground. I think he probably has some good intentions, and ideas. We have to assume so because Katrien told us.

My concern is that he is not listening. Does he listen to Katrien Meire, to Richard Murray, to Karel Fraeye, to Phil Chapple? Did he listen to Bob Peeters, Jose Riga, Chris Powell. Who does he listen to?

Where is the sporting or technical director that understands the politics and the often marvellous, but sometimes idiosyncratic mechanisms of professional British football?

Who is aiding Duchâtelet? What does he see when he looks at the league table? When was the last time he watched Charlton play? What is his plan for beyond this season. For FFP. Why is Guy Luzon still on his payroll?

So many questions, and I really don’t want to blame anyone, I just want to believe.
