At half-time yesterday I started to believe that the players were on the same page as Roland Duchâtelet, i.e. they were content with 22 points.

However the 2nd half from the commentary anyway sounded much improved and we played some more incisive football and once Igor was introduced packed a much bigger punch up top.

If Bob can keep Igor and JBG 100% fit then I think we can compete in the top half of the table, and within reach of the play-off’s, without them and until Bob is able to sign some additional recruits we will continue to resemble a patchwork quilt.

Igor’s goal was a striker’s knack to be in the right place at the right time. Sadly I am not convinced anyone of our other strikers within the squad would have read Rhoys Wiggins’ powerful run quite so expertly.

I have no problem and are thrilled to see Karlan Ahearne-Grant being in and around the 1st team squad, likewise Terrell Thomas, Zac Ansah and Jack Munns. Neither of them are as advanced as Joe Gomez, or probably as good, but they are learning and learning well, and should grab their cameo chances when they are offered, but being expected to power in the goals and take control of a blood and thunder Championship game and then being substituted at half-time is not helping anyone’s development.

But for Bob needs must and although yesterday’s bench looked powerful and game changing, at least three of them were not fully fit and I don’t think we can expect either Vetokele and Gudmundsson to play larger roles at Elland Road on Tuesday night.

Bob said that Vetokele would only get 15 minutes when instead he got half an hour. Mind you he almost got us a winner that we went hunting for, until it became apparent that both sides were to settle for a deserved point.

A good point in the circumstances and one we can build on for the next two games on the road and 23 points sounds far better than 22!

Wolves drew at home to Birmingham 0-0, Ipswich won at Blackpool in Lee Clark’s first game and look at Huddersfield. Chris Powell’s side beat Forest 3-0, the 7th unbeaten.
