Final chapter on Yann

“Charlton wanted to show people they had tried to do something when in reality they had done nothing special. Even a little offer. They never came back to me or my agent even with something very very low. They could have said they would give me a little bit more – maybe I would have accepted”.

Yann Kermorgant has given a pretty damming interview to Richard Cawley from the SLP (it was only in the published edition, but the guys from Charlton Life have seen it), which further darkens the last few days of the transfer window for us Addicks.

Yann exonerates Powell of any wrong doing and even suggests that “we didn’t even know if it was the gaffer’s decision to bring in players or just the owner’s choice. That started to worry me a little bit more”.

In the cold light of day Duchatelet has made a decision and Powell and the supporters have to except it. If the Belgian feels that we are better equipped with Reza Ghoochannejhad and Piotr Parzyszek, then so be it and we have no choice but to wait and see.

Also today Leyton Orient announced that Ben Alnwick has ruled out indefinitely due to personal reasons. A strange but worrying development and I hope that Ben bounces back to normal very soon.

I might as well mention that I had a drink in Miami earlier this week with a mate who is a big Brighton fan. He was at Dale Stephens debut at Watford last weekend and said he had a shocker, but no different to any other Brighton player he told me as they lost to the Hornets.

However, I think it is now time to move on. I was gutted when Derek Hales was sold to Derby, I was 10 at the time, didn’t think I’d ever recover, but I did. The earth still turned and we had new and sometimes better heroes to cheer, and Killer of course returned and still appears on the pitch periodically now!

If you are going tomorrow, get behind our new heroes. Come on you reds!

And as I recall that was one of our shrewdest sales, because – dare I say it – he was half the striker without Colin Powell to feed him from the wing. There is no doubt if the ball fell to his foot in the penalty area he would score – but when he didn’t get the service at Derby it all went sadly wrong. There were plenty of games I didn’t rate Yann – we have to keep it in perspective. And to Yann I would say, be careful who you trust. What worries me more is the Ben Alnwick story – god help that poor goalkeeper today if he screws up.
Incidentally CA – we have just had a thunder storm in SE7 and there are the predicted extremely heavy showers blowing through! Another abandonment on the cards????
