Gut wrenching and of course the internet is full of people who didn’t go castigating Powell for team selection, substitutions and general tactical uselessness.
I’d rather listen to those that got off their backsides and travelled to support the club, when they most need it. Strangely they seem to see it a bit different.
Three players making their full debuts in a foreign league, a midfield that consisted off a 18 and 19-year old, a 19-year old left back out of position coming on after 8 minutes to take place of one our best players and our most creative midfielder and talisman and top scorer sold from under your nose the day before. All up against a team stocked full of Premiership players and wages.
We expected nothing, yet for 88 minutes we defended a lead resolutely and from heading towards one of CP’s most inspired victories, the game ended in a cruel, cruel manner, and we end up with nothing, just a load of armchair experts screaming from their keyboards that Powell doesn’t know what he is doing.
Let Powell manage, with resources and without interference, and he has proved that his coaching and man-management ability outweighs some tactical naivety and a cautious tendency.
Allow him to incorporate Thuram, Nego, Ajdarević, Reza and Parzyszek and design a style of play (today he played a diamond formation), leave Jackson, Morrison, Wiggins, Solly and others to instill in them a spirit and togetherness and let us get behind them and show then what it means to wear the shirt.
The rest of you can stay at home.

… imho … something had to change … (altho’ I’m not advocating and supporting all the changes this week par se ) … I flew right around the planet to watch CAFC play Derby County and Sheff Wednesday at the Valley … apart from a flash of class from Stephens the three hours endured was bad … not poor … bad. Apparently at Doncaster it was worse than that!!

Wyn, a little research tells us that last season out of the 12 teams that can relegated in the top 4 divisions, 9 had changed their manager during the season….
Hey, What a great post, of course we have alots of issues having lost our main keeper, main midfielder and main forward plus as you say the intriduction of sverral new players not useed to the team, division, country and language either.
Yes, we shouyld all get behind th side for the rest of the season, give CP backing and make sure we stay in the Championship to build hopefully next season.

CA – echoed hère. We are desperate need of a bit of perspective. Everyone can see we are in a tight spot but shouting and screaming at the scapegoat-of-the-moment isn’t going to help. Our fans really are more fickle than most.

Here! Here! and Amen CA! Give SCP the proper tools, see how he does and then judge his managerial skills. My money is on him positively showing what he is made of! I hope the necessary patience and intent is in place on behalf of the new owner and his people. Right on CA – and once again I’m refusing to look at any other blogsite less my blood pressure rises too high. But in their defence I really don’t think our fans are any worse than other clubs – listened to any Manure fans recently? I think, as always, its a reflection of the society we live in where people want instant success and money rules all else. Sick. I pray to God Powelly has the good sense not to read a word of it – what the hell do these people know anyway? If you look at the bloke behind you with the loudest opinions he is always some lardy johnny-no-mates who has never played football in his life.
