And another added to Duchatelet’s stable
AD Alcorcón announced today in a statement that, “pending some legal formalities, the Belgian businessman Roland Duchatelet has become the largest shareholder” of the Madrid club.”.
So, I make that number 8 in the Pan European football network. Excited or nervous?
Alcorcón live in the shadows of the famous Madrid teams of Real, Atletico as well as Rayo Vallecano and are currently in the bottom half of the Spanish 2nd Division and play at the 5,880 seater Estadio Santo Domingo south-west of the Spanish capital.
Not surprisingly due to their power house neighbours Alcorcon only average 2,500 at home, but the club’s Twitter account has 20,000 followers!
The other night our new stablemates surprised La Liga’s Espanyol 1-0 in the 1st leg of the last 16 of the Copa del Rey.
Duchâtelet is a busy man isn’t he? I make it that he now has an interest, financial or otherwise, in clubs from Belgium, England, Hungary, Germany and Spain. Where does Roland’s cheque book go next?
