Fabrice Muamba
One of those moments yesterday when nothing else seemed important. Like every football fan the news of Fabrice Muamba collapsing during the Tottenham v Bolton FA Cup game stopped me in my steps.
There has been an outpouring of heartfelt wishes from the football community and beyond and it also reminded us how fragile life can be.
Fabrice Muamba survived thanks to the incredible dedication and skill of the medical teams on the pitch at White Hart Lane but remains in a very critical condition in intensive care at The London Chest Hospital. In his short life Muamba has faced a lot of adversity but he is a proven winner and I really hope he can win again.

It is poignant that this happened on the day we lost Mervyn “Merv the Swerve” Davies, who was one of my all time hero’s and he was welsh to boot!
Merve was a real fighter who made a comeback from a previous brain tumour that would have forced most people to retire. Due to an exceptional pain threshold he was able to make a comeback and achieve the greatness that he did.
Let us hope Fabrice is able to do the same too. Our prayers are with you.
