Scunthorpe United 1 Charlton Athletic 1

The wrist slashers were out in force tonight across SE7 and t’internet. You have to laugh. If your glass if always that half empty then please don’t come out with me to get pissed.

Stopping the rot (two defeats in 12 games) was the most important thing today and that we did. I listened in and it didn’t sound a great performance and often Scunny were in the ascendency but I was chuffed to see BWP score what sounded like a fine finish from a Waggy cross and I will take a point all day long.

I honestly think we are worrying about ourselves more than any other fan or player from the teams below us. Wednesday and United have got themselves into a right dogfight three wins below us. They have an identical record (they have both lost 9 games) and their local press will be getting both sides of the town royally worked up. They really won’t be caring about us.

Meanwhile Huddersfield remain unbeaten, I think that is 37 games now and we go there next week and the pressure is on them.

Sure, Tuesday is very important but let’s stick together and cheer the most together and committed team we have seen in red shirts for many, many seasons. Come on you reds.

Powell-ometer: I think starting Waggy was a good move and it provided an instant dividend. He was a bit late with the subs again and will be busy trying to bring a striker in during the next few days.
Elsewhere: Sheffield Wednesday had a good win at form-side Notts County despite Lloyd Sam’s late goal. United were held by Ronnie Moore’s Tranmere at Bramall Lane, MK Dons likewise at lowly Chesterfield and Huddersfield at Colchester, who missed a late penalty and then gave away a last-gasp own goal! Hartlepool and Stevenage was goalless, The O’s probably put pay to Brentford’s play-off hopes, Bournemouth drew at home with Carlisle and Paul Hayes scored again as Wycombe won at Bury 4-1.

Don’t look CA – that’s my advice – you know which bloggers/forums to avoid by now. I’m all for freedom of speech, but I exercise my right not to have to be depressed by these people.
