Bournemouth calling

This time tomorrow I hope to be supping a pint of decent beer in Bournemouth with Dave and a few others, well about 2,000 others in fact. My son will be on the J2o’s.

I fly back to Gatwick on the BA flight tonight landing at around 6am and will do a drive-by to pick my son up en route to the south coast. Anticipating a long day, and a few pints, I have a hotel booked and we will stay in Bournemouth Saturday night and then cruise around a bit on Sunday before heading back to his later in the day.

We will both be at the Colchester game at The Valley on Tuesday as well.

It won’t be our first visit to the Fitness First Stadium as we were at the the pre-season friendly a couple of seasons ago and I remember then that the Addicks made a fair amount of noise, but it will be nothing like tomorrow and I can’t wait to be a part of Chrissy Powell’s red and white army.

I actually tried to discourage it. His Mum was ok with it but as soon as he got wind of it, that was that!

Safe journey. My son and I are coming down from Cardiff after visiting the eldest at Uni. I’ll look forward to reading your match report, now I’m over 50 I can’t seem to remember the details any more. I remember the winning of course! COYR!

It was always better on a school night! I always concentrated twice as hard the next day….

My favourite as a kid were the Friday night games. Into the Valley Club afterwards for sausage and chips in a basket. Brill.

I always loved the crush of school night games. Especially one…against QPR and Rodney Marsh. You couldn’t move and I was held upright!
