Hayes and Doherty go out on loan

Both have signed for Wycombe Wanderers until the end of the season. Both are ineligible to play against us in April.

Now The Doc is not a surprise but Hayes is. With Danny Haynes injured it leaves us rather short up front. Clarke has yet to make his mark and beyond him we only have the untried, albeit exciting prospects of Tobi Sho-Silva and Adebayo Azeez. I wonder if Powell will make a move himself into the loan market?

A lot of us have been banging the Hayes drum citing his hold up play and early season partnership with BWP. I suppose at the end of the day Kermie has been playing out of his skin and Powell is not about to drop him.

Good luck to both, particularly Paul Hayes, who will I imagine partner the Chairboys little but lively striker Stuart Beavon.  Wycombe have also signed this week on loan midfielders Craig Eastmond and Chris Hackett from Arsenal and Millwall respectively as they strive to stay in the division.

Good luck to them both – would have preferred Hayes to Clarke up front like many.

I wonder if we have an option to recall Smith (from Accrington?)

I got an excited call from a work colleague yesterday who is a Chairboys fan. Hard to be dismissive, given his enthusiasm. Good it must be tough following them! They rely upon bringing in loanees to put out a side and they simply don’t have the resources to secure any of them. Just a merry-go-round for Wycombe and a shop window for players who are either too young and inexperienced or on the slide. His knowledge of lower league players is very impressive and I always thought it was because of what he’s watched over the years. Didn’t appreciate it was because most of them have played for Wycombe!
