New baby

I’m sat in the lounge at Vancouver airport with my new baby. A sparkly white iPad2. I dont think I’ve been this excited since, well my last baby! My flight isn’t until 11.15pm and I’m making the most of my last glimpses of Vancouver before the night creeps in outside.

Inside grey-haired men in suits cheer the cities ice hockey team, The Canucks onto victory. There were stories of long delays at security following Bin Laden’s killing earlier in the week but the airport is just as dead.

I am knackered. A week of back to back meetings, the only respite being back to back nights of drinking and I’m ready for my bed but that won’t be until tomorrow night.

I did manage to see a fair bit of Vancouver and I liked what I saw. This is my second visit to Canada in less than a year and I love the commingling of cultures. The French Canadians in Montreal and in Vancouver the hundreds of thousands of Chinese, Vietnamese and Taiwanese. Canada has a very different personality to that of the United States and it makes me want to explore more of it.

The first thing you notice about Vancouver is how stunning the backdrop to it is and I didn’t realize how much importance the water has to the city. It’s modern too, either that or it had a major facelift before the 2010 Winter Olympics and Londoners will be pleased to know that the city is thriving, that is if you ignore the homeless.

Anyway more on Vancouver after I’ve slept and played longer with my new baby.

CA – still no Flash player. I’ve decided I won’t buy another I-Pad until Apple relent or HTML5 has overcome this major obstacle. I understand the Apple argument re security etc but other tablets now have this functionality and I am not aware that they are all being corrupted by viruses etc I am guessing another tablet purchase may come along first.

Dave, I was starting to think that way, but hadn’t done enough research on the other tablets. And then I was sadly drawn to the white lushness of an iPad2. I never had the first one.
