Gallagher signs for Swansea. Send for recruits

Swansea unveiled Conor Gallagher today on a 6-month loan. Farewell young man and thanks for the memories. The 19-year old was a pleasure to watch and he leaves SE7 with some very complimentary comments. Hopefully he continues his development in South Wales, which appears furthest from his parent club’s mind who mostly it appeared just wanted to pocket a loan fee and receive a larger payment towards his weekly salary, which I am led to believe is higher than any player at Charlton.

Enough Chelsea bashing, they offered us him, we took him and accelerated his career and there was always a chance that the loan would be terminated early. The pitfalls of our previous regime’s reliance on shopping in Lidl and populating the team with loan deals, whereas they should accentuate the team not dominate it.

The mysterious case of Lewis Page

Ben Purrington maybe the 7/10 no headlines player, but he will be missed greatly at Fulham on Saturday when Lee Bowyer will turn to either Deji Oshilaja or probably Naby Sarr in a back three as we take on the threat of the joint leading goal scorers.

Bowyer described the absence of Lewis Page as “mind boggling.” The 23-year old has not played for over a year after beginning last season so well showing tenacity and a real threat going forward, and quickly becoming popular with Addicks.

Announce Hemed

The transfer window may well have closed but Steve Gallen keeps rocking on. Ehrun Oztumer signed on Friday and today after a week and a half of waiting the EFL finally gave the clearance for Tomer Hemed to move from Brighton to Charlton on a free. Incredibly Lee Bowyer’s 14th signing of the summer.

Brighton had already agreed to cancel the final year of Hemed’s contract so we could sign him as a free agent, it was just that the paperwork went in right on the 5pm deadline allowing for the FA and EFL to do some long drawn out stroking of chins.

Beram Kayal late through the door

The 5th and final loan happened way after the 5 o’clock deadline tonight when Brighton’s experienced Israeli international Beram Kayal signed up for the season.

Kayal is thought off very fondly down on the south coast, and it was pleasing to see so many good wishes from Seagulls fans towards both the player and us.

The Israeli moved from Celtic to Brighton in 2015 and made 122 appearances, including 37 in the Premier League during the last two seasons. He brings ability and much needed experience, and he sounds every bit a Bowyer player.
