Sichenje out for season. Young Finn signs
Collins Sichenje will miss the entire season with a knee injury sustained early in the Tottenham game.
The Kenyan was only signed in February and did not have any history of serious injuries, but this is his third since being with the club, and the worse of all.
Tottenham’s grass has had a history of knee injuries, said to be due to a dual-surface system where the natural grass pitch retracts to reveal synthetic turf used for NFL games and concerts.
Sichenje has already had ACL surgery and will now recover and recuperate on the road to fitness. Hopefully having his mate Timothy Ouma around will help.
Sichenje has only played around 400 minutes for the Addicks following his ox £1.7m move from Serbian club FK Vojvodina.
In other news the club have added Finnish midfielder Otto Tiitinen on a season-long loan from top Finnish league side Ilves, with an option to make the move permanent.
In October 2025, Tiitinen was named in the list of Next Generation 2025: 60 of the best young talents in world football by The Guardian.
The article said: “Tiitinen came on as substitute for the hosts, provided an assist for an equalising goal and then made it 3-2 himself with a brilliant shot into the top corner. It was quite a way to announce himself, and hopes are high that the versatile midfielder will grow into a major star. Tiitinen is a smart and dedicated footballer, who loves to read and play chess in his free time.”
Otto will join the Addicks’ U21 squad.
