Alex Mitchell sold to Plymouth

Alex Mitchell has joined Plymouth Argyle, for whom he was their POTY last season. The fee is thought to be in the region of £250,000.

Wycombe bid £200,000 and the last few days the Addicks and Pilgrims have been haggling over the fee whilst Mitchell was down in the west country waiting for the confirmation.

Mitchell is a great character and I’d imagine a joy to be around the training ground. He played 47 games for Plymouth last season and was critical to their climbing up the table to almost steal into the play-off positions.

Mitchell never really made a Charlton first team place his own but played 31 games, scoring 2 goals.

The Windsor boy moves to Devon with all of our best wishes.

I hear a fee of 500k has been quoted, if so that is good business. 2 out , another 4 to go .. 2 more to come in.. then some loans out and 2 loans in., that’s my prediction.

All the best Alex, hope all goes well down there. Not that ball carrying defender we need now, but did a great job when we were shipping goals with ease in league 1.
