Karoy Anderson signs for Blackpool
Looked as if Karoy Anderson posted his farewell on social media a little bit premature yesterday. He took it down a bit later, but today it was officially confirmed that he has moved to Blackpool for an undisclosed fee.
Karoy is one of our own, and always played like a fan whenever he wore the red shirt.
He isn’t yet good enough for The Championship, but may well be. He has the physical attributes necessary and Blackpool and Ian Evatt will be the perfect place for him to carry out his own evolution. I think the Tangerines will have a good season.
Karoy has been at Charlton since he was 8, and is another feather in the cap of Steve Avory. He made 88 first team appearances including one at Wembley. His goal at Derby in Jones’ first win was a cracker.
He has signed a 4-year contract at Blackpool, with I suspect a sizeable sell-on fee.
Best of luck to you, Karoy.

Good luck karoy, I’ll remember him for the winner against Bolton, always got stuck in never shy of a tackle
My best wishes to Karoy ….he is class player and I watched him.many times in the U21 games before leaving us….he will do really well and develop more..
I think this one will come back to haunt us. I just hope there is a decent sell on clause.
We really don’t know if he is championship level yet because he hasn’t been given the opportunity and is still young. What we do know; he stood out as a top league 1 performer last year, so just the type we are likely to sign for a reasonable sum of money (think Apter). Disappointed that we didn’t persevere with him, unless it was an amount it is difficult to turn down.
I would have kept Karoy and sold Coventry (the player, not the club or City!) who is likely to yield a higher fee but has proven he is not Championship level (not for lack of effort mind, just too slow in body and mind).
He was unlikely to be used by NJ, so he’s taken the chance to ply his trade else where….Blackpool loved him last season,so good luck to the lad
I’ve always thought he shows a lot of promise, but I guess we need player here that are Championship standard. We probably also need to get a few players off the wage bill before we can recruit properly.
I think we do, Andy and probably all part of the waiting game.
Alex Mitchell, Apter, Docherty, Kanu, Olaofe could all leave for fees.
BIG mistake
NJ promised that he’d be ruthless…and this is a sign that unless you are going to offer something you’ll be moved on. This is a tough league and can’t afford to train up too many young players in the hope that they’ll make it.
He got a few opportunities last season in the Championship without looking like he was really ready for this level but we couldn’t seem to find the right niche for him. He didn’t look convincing at number 8 or in DM or that he could be a midfield box-to-box general. In time he may be one of those things, but not right now.
I assume a small fee plus a decent sell on if he attracts a decent offer down the line.
In the meantime that’s a squad place and wage freed up for a player who can do a job – we need a creative midfielder and that’s another reason that it makes sense to shift Karoy on, he’d be behind that player too.
Spot on, SP.
Good luck karoy I like this lad always ready for a good old fashioned tussle another 5 players out and 4 decent players to come hopefully still think they should give kanu a chance you never know he might surprise everybody never been given the chance but we ll see…. COYR
I’m a little disappointed. Karoy had his critics and he wasn’t ready for a regular starting place with us. But I always thought he brought energy as a sub and now we’ll never know how he might have developed as he matured. Was never lacking in effort. Good luck to the lad.
Wish him nothing but the best – but surely there comes a time when you even ignore the sell on fee and just add in a buy back clause? You can’t lose then.
