Phew what a scorcher

Climate change ain’t a real thing is it….

Take care of yourselves back at home. I’m seeing that temperatures are going to rise to 40c, and a rare red weather alert has been issued for parts of the country. That’s crazy.

The record highest temperature ever in the UK is 40.3c, that in Coningsby, Lincs in 2022. That could be broken this week.

I always think the summer is the best time in London. Being outside in many of the cities parks, standing outside a boozer drinking a cold pint with your mates, barbequing at every opportunity, Wimbledon, cricket, migratory birds, waiting in line for a Mr. Whippy 99. Makes me a little homesick, but 40c…. 104f with no air-conditioning…. blimey.

Are people considering air conditioning? I remember when all of my mates were digging up their bathroom and kitchen floors to put in under-floor heating!

At home here in Sarasota we are under a severe heat warning and we’ve been under a extreme drought condition for a while, even though I just saw a neighbour watering her front lawn.

Sarasota’s weather is going to be a mere 33c tomorrow, but the humidity makes it feel a lot hotter. I will always maintain though that Bermuda’s humidity is worse than Florida, this coast anyway. I can’t say the same for the middle of the state – queuing up for the Guardian’s of the Galaxy ride at Epcot, anyone?

Bermuda’s temperature didn’t really vary much, with lows of 26 c and high’s of 30c during the summer, but it is surounded by water and getting on a boat was a lovely solace.

Chicago would get hot though. Maybe my body was less attuned to it when I lived there, but the city would often reach 100f (37.8c) in the lovely summer months. The Chicagoans of course are rewarded by having bloody freezing winters!

For those readers in UK and Europe, be careful, and take on plenty of fluids.

For Charlton fans, maybe we’ll get some transfer news soon to take our minds of the heat.

Just occasionally there are advantages in supporting the Addicks from 60 degrees north…

It’s hot and muggy but in the UK we seem to overplay the weather…almighty thunderstorm overnight that helped clear the air a bit.
Closing my eyes it feels I’m on holiday in Dubai 😃
The renovation of the Valley pitch will love the rain and heat !!!

I moved down to the South Coast, just along from Brighton, nearly five years ago. The ability to finish work and walk down to the end of my road to jump in the sea is just amazing! There is a lovely breeze coming in off of the sea too, which makes life a bit more bearable than when I used to sit in a pool of my own sweat back in London!
