Bradford interest in Macauley Gillesphey

Rumours surfacing on t’internet that Bradford City have made an approach for Macauley Gillesphey.

Macca has a year left on his contract (plus a club 12 month option) and it would surprise few if he was to leave SE7 this summer.

Gillesphey has played in the north-east, the west country, Australia and in London so you’d think a move to west Yorkshire wouldn’t faze him and his family.

Nathan Jones will pass on sentiment this summer, and Gillesphey who was signed by Michael Appleton but vastly improved under Jones, will be long remembered by Addicks for his goal at Wembley in the play-off final, but a move to a promotion challenging League One side sounds a good opportunity for the 30-year old.

Gillesphey has twice been promoted out of the division, and I’d expect Charlton would want to receive a fee over a loan.

Left-sided centre backs are hard to come by, but unfortunately The Championship has been a step too far for Gillesphey’s abilities.

Bradford play in a similar style to Jones’ Charlton and those raking cross field left footed passes will come in very useful. Gillesphey also weighs in with the odd goal as we know.

I wish him the very best if he decides to go. Without him, we may not have got into the Championship.

Yeah good luck to him.. struggles at championship level, but a legend from his Wembley heroics.
Have to say those Cape Verde CB’s look half decent!

It’s very quiet out there! I’m sure that there is a lot going on behind the scenes, but I’m chomping at the bit for some movement in the transfer market.

Do most contracts run until 30th June? That then being the point when we see a flurry of activity, hopefully…
