Boca
I’ve had a bit of a tour of Florida this past week. Orlando with work, Ocala for a swim meet, back home to Sarasota, tomorrow to Boca Raton and then Miami for a long flight on Thursday.
More on the 14 hour flight from Miami later.
I haven’t been to Boca Raton for a long time, or simply Boca as the locals call it. I’ve actually been to Boca in Argentina more recently than Boca in Florida.
Situated on the Atlantic Coast between Ft. Lauderdale and Trump country, Palm Beach. Boca sits among inland waterways, lakes and parkland and there’s plenty of art and shopping to go alongside nature trails and beaches.
Once a tiny agricultural community, Boca grew in the 1970’s particularly after the opening of the Florida Atlantic University and the airport.
IBM even built a large manufacturing campus in the town in 1967. It is here where they developed their first personal computer. IBM still employs 1,500 people in the area.
We are staying here, which looks a good place to recharge as well as get use of our new pickleball bats. A few fruity rum cocktails are a good possibility as well.
