Joe Rankin-Costello

It’s a little short on rumours round here, so here’s one to throw into the mix.

According to some sources Blackburn Rovers’ Joe Rankin-Costello is subject to a £750,000 bid from the Addicks. The 25-year old is a right-wing-back that can invert into central midfield.

Rankin-Costello began in Manchester United’s academy before moving to Blackburn’s and made his debut for Rovers during the 2019/20 season. He has played 115 games all in The Championship but doesn’t appear to ever nailed down a permanent place.

Some Rovers fans are lamenting injury issues, but he doesn’t looked to have missed any football due to injuries for any real period of time other than a hamstring issue followed by a metatarsal fracture, but that was four or five years ago.

Rankin-Costello’s contract runs until 2027 but the latest manager in what is a merry go round up there, Valerien Ismael, looks open to him moving on.

His utility will attract Jones and I’m making a presumption to suggest this maybe a player that Phil Chapple had on his radar.

Other Championship sides are also tracking him, so we’ll see how this one develops.

Also of note today Sky Sports posted that we are interested in young Fulham midfielder Luke Harris. The Jersey born 20-year old was at Birmingham on loan last season and the season before at Exeter City.

Have no idea about him CA but one really important thing you appear to not have post on, unless I have missed it, Miles Leaburn signing a new three year contract!
Which is probably the best news out of all the recent signings.

CA I always get your posts from News Now which show all the leagues and info from the Clubs themselves, reporters, pudits, posts incl yours but for some reason your Miles post wasn’t shown! Maybe thats why when I just looked at your post only a few prople had replied as would have thought a lot more would have considering it was about Miles?

          Hi Mike.

Yes, that was the problem. Most of my visitors come from NewsNow and for whatever reason the Miles Leaburn post didn’t link to the NN site. It can happen occassionally. The Reece Burke Joins post did link as normal.

The flag was when I noticed it wasn’t get many comments and the views were way, way down on normal.

The signing of Leaburn is very encouraging as they must be convinced that he has put his injury problems behind him. A fit Leaburn will make a big difference. Although he normally plays as a CF he can also play wide right, in a 4-3-3 system, which adds to the options that NJ can use with the other forwards. I will be watching the Dartford game to see whether Ahadme, if picked, shows improvement over last season, let’s hope so. I don’t know enough about JR-C or LH but if recommended by Chapple they should be decent.

Have seen him play.. that right sided player is an area where we strengthening. He had pace that day, technically looked good. I hope he is given a chance to bed in, if he remains fit.. he will be an excellent signing. Positive we are signing players early.. hopefully the overseas trip will allow them to bond. It is a big squad now.. I think some will leave or be loaned out.
