Slovenia again
Nathan Jones and his squad will return to Slovenia this summer as I opined yesterday.
Nathan Jones has been taking his teams to Slovenia since 2017 and the squad will stay at the same training camp in Kranjska Gora, which is in the northwestern part of the country nestled between mountains and glacial lakes.
Conditions will be hot and humid as we prepare for a return to The Championship. The fitness of the players last season was definitely a big feature late in games and late in the season.
Whilst in the Alpine resort Charlton will play a behind the doors friendly against Croatian side HNK Gorica. Based just south of Zagreb, Gorica finished *9th in the Croatian top tier last season.
*There are only 10 teams in the league, but just the bottom club gets relegated!
Charlton will return home from Slovenia and face National League outfit Wealdstone away on Wednesday, July 23rd.
There will be no Valley pre-season game this summer to let the pitch fully settle down, a lesson learnt from last season I suspect.
Just got back from a Travel conference in Bucharest, where record heatwaves have been occurring. I Must admit could have done with “Michael Bates” of It ain’t half hot mum as my personal Punkah walls. Good news was we came back with a much coveted award. Let’s hope the pre season games are good sessions and keep the minds off the players thoughts on the up and coming fixture lists
