How many miles travelled
A resourceful Addick has mapped the journey’s of Charlton fans to Wembley this weekend from their overseas homes.
As of now there are 22 different countries that Addicks are travelling to Wembley from, cumulatively flying almost 190,000 miles!
Charlton’s reach overseas has long been known and in recent seasons the club has attempted pretty successfully to extol this. Charlton TV would not even be a thing without the demand and backing of its overseas supporters.
Anyway, it is superbly mind blowing that this many Addicks are coming from all over the world.
Fans are travelling from as far as Montevideo, San Francisco, Vancouver, Bangkok, Melbourne and even Auckland, which is a 22,800 mile round trip!
Congratulations to the Charlton fan, who goes by the name of BalladMan on Charlton Life. It is a brilliant piece of work.
You can click on the map here.
If you have not seen this and are travelling from overseas, and don’t have a Charlton Life account you can leave me a comment, and I’ll pass your journey on.

LOL CG and it is (so many names, AS IF)
I hope to pick the game up here in Thailand and will be there in spirit.
Yes, I agree with you about the various CAFC sites. Yours is definitely right up there, but there is also the International Overseas one on Facebook, and there are a few others.
I saw a post this morning on X from Rob (sorry his surname escapes me), but certainly one I agree 100%.
He was stating that both teams and supporters of both clubs deserve to be there, and yes, should be seen as a huge celebration, and yes, unfortunately, can be only one winner and of course, hoping it is CAFC and of course, there is bound to be twists and turns, for sure.
Rob was stating that Orient were in the non-league just a few years ago and yes other clubs too who have come back and even stronger.
We, as CAFC supporters of 6 and 7 DECADES, can well remember and several times we nearly went bust and one within 5 minutes and remember working in Holborn in London just around the High Court.
We must all realise that many supporters and clubs have never been to Wembley, and this sums up the real life out there too, the struggles most of us have to go through.
The message simply is celebrate the day, and it will be very hard for one group of supporters.
Yes, those of us who are lucky enough to witness that best ever final in 1988 and definitely on a par with the WC 1966, but remember so many consoling the Sunderland supporters, and we have that real bond.
Ironically my Dear Late Dad took me to The Valley on Boxing Day 1961 against and you guessed it, Sunderland and 2-0 to the Addicks.
Little did I ever realise we would ever beat them not just once but TWICE in the Playoffs, a remarkable tale, but we have so many others too.
One experience and had a mate a Leeds supporter who went to Wembley when they lost to Doncaster and rather stupidly asked him, “Did you enjoy the occasion and day”
He totally flipped but we had a laugh about it later and yes all supporters have this huge bond with their clubs and so many have come through some very rough periods.
Enjoy the day you lucky Addicts supporters and Orient’s too.
Not my style, normally (what is normal these days?) from a still very proud Candidate of the Magnificent Valley Party with thousands of others I hasten to add.
I’m also in Thailand and as it’s. Holiday can’t make it back this time, sadly
Safe travels everyone. Let’s hope your return journeys are happy ones !
Am travelling from Singapore having missed the last two play off finals due to work commitments (new jobs/countries on both the last two). Last saw the Addicks at Wembley in 1987!
Are you travelling on your own, Darren?
Yes – just me via Dubai and Warsaw (for the mileage)…:)
Impressive.
And Singapore added to the map, Darren.

Does it count that we are travelling back from Lille? Back in October (remember those dark days?) we got tickets for the Boss in Lille and something against all that was logical at the time made me think about the play offs – so I booked us on the first Eurostar home on the Sunday morning. Didn’t dare confess to anybody why as it was madness at the time. Do I feel smug now? However, you can never trust the French so my heart will be in my mouth until we pull into St Pancras at 10.00 am. Straight to Wembley, no messing. Would have been less stressful with a 3.01 KO.
My goddaughter and her daughter are being packed off on their holiday on their own as her husband has changed his and his son’s flights!!
Lastly – do you know any Addicks in Sydney? I know a very bereft Charlton fan out there who needs some Addicks around him right now.
Safe journey back CA.
Lille now added to the map, LP.

There are some Sydney Addicks I am sure of it. Suggest they look at the International Addicks page on Facebook.
Yes, sort of got commentary 5/6 years ago and not sure this time.
One of our party is travelling from Upsalla Sweden just as they did in 2019
Upsalla added to the map SCM.

How about within the UK? About 750 miles each way, including a 12 hour ferry crossing.
You are proudly added now Shetland. Most people proclaim you as the winner due to your elongated journey 🛥️.

Crikey, thought driving from Dorset was far enough. Safe journey to everyone and pray we get the right result.
Hi Balladman (Dave) here. Thanks to all that have shared where they are travelling from and keep sharing… If you can let us know how many also, would be great as this affects the ‘Miles travelled’ sum.
Will do Dave. I know it is one from Upsalla in Sweden.
Coming from Saint Lucia
Not sure this going to add too many miles.. but travelling from Scottish Borders 750 mile round trip. 6 hour drive each way, one hour train each way… in one day! Robert D
Of course it does. What town?
