Josh Laqeretabua signs new contract
Lah-keh-REH-tah-boo-ah.
We need to remember that, the 19-year old is very highly rated by the club and it’s nice to see us tie down another one of our academy players to a long-term deal.
The defender, who joined the Addicks’ academy aged 9 has signed a contract until 2028, with a club option of an extra year.
Josh has made 6 appearances for the Addicks across all competitions this season, including two Sky Bet League One outings.
The central defender had a really bad run with injuries, but has made a real impact this season in the U21’s culminating with Nathan Jones involving him within the first team.
Laqeretabua’s parents are from Fiji’s Tailevu Province and he made their homeland’s U20 national squad for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina. He has two caps, with a call-up to the senior squad surely not far away.
One to watch.
