Has the transfer window opened?
Today marks the 6th day of the January transfer window and rumours whether warm or wildly inaccurate are in short supply.
From an internet scroll only Wigan have been active making three signings, but most clubs have been quiet.
Peterborough spent some cash over the weekend on Fleetwood Town right back Carl Johnston, and Fleetwood also sold midfielder Liam Shaw to Northampton, bu only a handful of other League One clubs have made first week signings.
One thing I did notice was that Wycombe, who have five loan players, have had two recalled – Aaron Morley (Bolton) and Caleb Taylor (WBA). They had both really impressed and made 43 appearances between them. Stories out there also that midfielder Cameron Humphreys maybe pulled by parent Ipswich to be moved to a club in The Championship.
This is a growing issue with loan players, and goes to explains Nathan Jones’ aversion to them. I am still scarred by Conor Gallagher being recalled by Chelsea.
Premier League clubs make big asks of lower league clubs when they move young players to them, and wrongly I think demand fees and playing time, yet at a drop of a hat can hook them, I suppose at least if you loan a player in January they can’t be recalled.
Just two Charlton rumours that I’ve seen. One is Notts County attacking midfielder Dan Crowley. He has continued his excellent form from last season at County and is out of contract in the summer.
The other is Cardiff striker Kion Etete, The 23-year has been injured and not played this season (here we go), so this is a loan story we know well. Etete was a big hope a couple of years ago when at Tottenham, and has played 56 games at Cardiff scoring 6 times.
Underwhelmed by that one. Any more rumours out there other than those clubs sniffing around ours?

Ive seen a return for CBT but I think it was made up, like most of them!
So much crap out there. Mostly teenagers on social media with a laptop and football manager.
Window is open but I expect a few fringe players to go out on loan and I fear that Chuks will be leaving.Rumour has it that we have secured a second lady,Ethel from Crawley to help serve refreshments in the players lounge!
ha ha, nice one!
And we are in ongoing negotiations on a loan deal for an unamed car park attendant from the championship !!!
Discussions on hold because the car park attendant wanted a signing on fee for his agent and a new florescent coat with bigger pockets
They will never drop down a division!!
The biggest concern is Wycombe are even more interested in Lloyd Jone’s now that their main centre back has been recalled by WBA! If he does go as he only has 6 months left on his contract, as N. Jone’s had a chance to renew his contarct earlier on in the season but wanted to wait to see how he faired!!! So if Charlton cannot now persude him to stay, we can definately kiss goodbye to getting into the top six, as the defence seems to go into meltdown everytime without him and look a shambles!
The other concern is, as it appears Jones wants to keep Potts, Hylton and Campbell, three of his old boys who he can rely on for their support, but are a total waste of space. So therefore others will have to go, as per Methen and Jones who have both said, the squad has to be reduced in this window!
Though I suppose we don’t have to worry as we will still have game changers on the bench, Ahadme, Reg, Hylton, A.Campbell and Potts, if he is fit after his one game in the Tonto Cup! 🙂
Have to totally agree about keeping Jones as he has continually demonstrated his importance marshalling our defence…and our push for promotion place….step backwards if we lose him to Wycombe
Hopefully good news regarding Lloyd Jones —

That’s good news for N. Jones as he is 33 years old and use to play for Luton along with Potts. So he will be able to snap him up at the end of the season for free, if Wycombe go up and come in for L Jones so he can play along side Potts if we stay in Division 1! 🙂
100% correct
PMSL but keep saying with snidy Scott and Methvern and others at the helm what could possibly go wrong?
We already know!!!
“Don’t panic Mr Mannering….and don’t tell them your names Charlie and Scott !!!!”
there won’t be any players coming in as we can only fit 22 players on the training pitch have you not listened to the main man mr Charlie claptrap lol
sorry I’ve also heard Paul Walsh is on mr jones radar as he did once play for Luton Town
And Derek Hales….
