Kevin Nolan RIP

Really sad news today that journalist Kevin Nolan has passed away.

He has for decades covered Charlton games through good times and bad in his own unique and unparalleled way.

He was still posting reports for the Greenwich Wire up until very recently, and I have to say I didn’t realize he was 87 as he never looked any different.

He wrote match reports through the lens of a proper fan. Detailed, hilarious, sarcastic and acerbic all mixed up in about 500 wonderfully put together words.

His writing and I am sure his presence in the Charlton press room will be sorely missed. A Charlton legend if there ever was one that never played for the club.

Sleep well Kevin, and my thoughts are with his family and friends. ♥️

That’s so sad, he seemed to have been part of Charlton forever. He will be remembered and missed. I guess that is all any of us can ask.

RIP Kevin. Hadn’t heard as he usually comes with his wife and has a chat with several of us, who meet up before the homes games. When last saw him, either last home game or one before, there was no question of him being ill, just getting a little older like all of us, but as you said didn’t realise he was 87!

As per you CA, my thoughts are with his family and close friends and I’m sure he will get a good send off and will still be looking down and watching Charlton.

The only journalist who gave a well rounded report on all Charlton games good and bad without the hysterics usually found on CL.

    RIP

This is very sad news. I enjoyed reading Kevin’s articles way back when he was covering news stories in the 80s News Shopper of Charlton’s possible return to The Valley. He was a very accomplished journalist and l was genuinely shocked when l read of Kevin’s passing. RIP.

He was a lovely bloke, Charlton through and through, I met him a couple of times and he was up for a chat both times. A great sense of humour and an even better turn of phrase.
