Big in Texas
Everything is big in Texas. Hair, hats, boots, bowls of chili and my expense account.
I am going to be in Texas a lot in the next couple of weeks. I’m on my way to Houston today, flying to Austin tomorrow, then the week after I’m going to Dallas and back to Houston.
I am predominately working, but (there’s always a but) I have been invited to attend the University of Texas college football game on Saturday when they host University of Florida in a SEC (Southestern Conference) game.
I should be supporting Florida’s Gators, but I might be slightly outnumbered in an anticipated 100,000 crowd.
College football is everything in the United States, especially in the south and I haven’t been to a college game since my excursions to the University of Wisconsin with friends in my Chicago days.
It will be fun, but the game starts at 11am, which means we have to start tailgating (drinking in a car park) at 8am.
I’ve never been to Austin, which is an archetypical college town and I’m looking forward to visiting.

If it is anything like my experience at Virginia Tech last year then you are in for a special day. Start early and soak it all up.
Oh for 100,000 at every home game!
Bon voyage. Hope you enjoy yourself…
