Zach Mitchell signs new contract

A nice little pocket of news today with the club announcing an extended contract for defender Zach Mitchell, who has quietly behind the scenes been making great strides.

Mitchell, aged 19, who has been at Charlton since he was 7 has put pen-to-paper on a deal until 2027, with a club option of an extra year.

He was on loan at L2 side Colchester United last season making 29 appearances, scoring twice, but was frozen out by Danny Cowley when he took over in January and then Zach got an injury which ended his season.

By all accounts he came back to pre-season firing and super fit and has impressed Nathan Jones. He was also good in the trophy game at Cambridge recently.

Zach is the brother of Millwall’s Billy.
