Edwards injury update

The club and specifically it’s most important mouthpiece, Nathan Jones, have been notoriously uncommunicative about injuries since, well since Jones walked into the building.

However the font of secret information, Rich Cawley, appears to have found out that Josh Edwards’ injury will keep him “sidelined for weeks rather than months.” (more)

The tackle on Edwards by Sean Clare looks more horrific every time I watch it. I didn’t have Clare down as a dirty player, clumsy yes, witless yes, but I don’t know what was going on in his mind when he lifted his foot down onto Edwards ankle in that moment.

Edwards has hardly missed a game over the past four seasons, so hopefully Rich is right and we get the Scotsman back playing as he’s had an impressive start to his Addicks’ career.

Very disappointed to learn that Josh will be out of action for weeks and equally disappointed we did not get to see more of him on Saturday. He looks as though he could be a very good player for us and his speed and enthusiasm could well make him a crowd favorite in the future. Look forward to seeing him back sooner rather than later.

I know Sean well and the poor challenge was out of character….very clumsy and late….I know he wouldn’t have gone out to harm Josh.

Fingers crossed Josh will recover ASAP and establish his rightful place in the team

I don’t know what you are looking at Cliff, as you can see in the link above from CA, his foot is raised him as he slides in, so you can’t say it was just a clumsy tackle! If any player does that they know full well they are going to injure the other player if they connect with them, no excuses! As Jones said that was a red card all day long and Clare knows it as well, just a pity the ref was absolutely terrible and was more interested in giving Jones a yellow card!

It’s extremely lucky that Edwards hasn’t sustained a much more serious injury or even had his ankle fractured with the force Clare went in with on that high tackle!

        Hi Mike

It was clumsy and late and Sean should have got a red Immediately.

The tackle was horrible and reckless – he slid in aiming to get the ball, or hoping, to but not thinking of the consequences if Josh Edwards got their first. Personally I don’t believe it was intentional in that he aimed to take Edwards out or he didn’t care whether he did or not. A better player would have executed the tackle as intended or more likely have known that the risk/reward ratio was too great to slide in like that.

It should have been a straight red – and although people moan about VAR if we’d had it available that would have been the sanction and there would have been no arguments.

Hopefully good news about Josh, I did feel for him moving down south not really knowing anyone and then potentially spending months in R&R.
