Begovic deal dead
Hardly surprising that a player that has played 250 Premier League games and more recently sat on the bench for expensively compiled squads earns a lot more than the rest of the Charlton payroll.
The only surprise is how long it took to get to that summation, but the Asmir Begovic to Charlton deal is off.
That leaves Will Mannion to wear the no. 1 shirt on Saturday, and we’ll have to see what moves Nathan Jones makes to bring in a more seasoned goalkeeper before the deadline.
Mannion finished last season as Cambridge United’s first choice, but he lacks regular game time with just 29 EFL appearances, a bit of non-league and Cypriot football on his appearance sheet.
Talking of shirts, the away kit is meant to be announced tomorrow. For years the club has never managed to get the kits into the shop in good time for fans to wear over the summer, now Castore, a case study into outgrowing your reach, can’t even get shirts on the backs of players.
A form of yellow, possibly a shade of Ecru is supposed to be the colour that the players are contracted to wear at Wigan on Saturday.

Yep not a surpise really – understood the only saving grace was his young family are settled in London – the commute to Blackburn will be very painful to swallow. 😥
This will be the third of our goalkeeping targets that we’ve missed out on.
John Reddy preferred Tyneside and being fourth choice to getting some gametime at Charlton and Viljami Sinisalo opted for Celtic where he’ll be competing with Kasper Schmeichal for a starting spot.
Too bad we’ve missed out on Begovic, but I’d rather have a keeper who wants to be here over one who’s happy to warm a bench at no doubt better wages.
In a year’s time he’ll be richer but equally likely his career will be dwindling into nothing. In his position I’d rather be playing regardless of the difference in wages, but it’s his life.
Adam Davies was another as well. Left Sheffield Utd, failed our medical with us, and then re-signed for Sheff Utd..
Shambles !!!!!!..Charlton players wore the new Castore kit against Pompey with names missing on the back….Pompey players had names on back.
It lacks professionalism !!!
Castore seem to have issues delivering kit to the club so don’t be surprised if on Saturday players wear a castore kit with names missing on the back
Just wear red. Simples.
