Reebok to replace Castore

The good folk on Charlton Life with their ear close to the ground have hinted that next season’s Charlton kits will be made by Reebok.

I’m not sure whether there will be other English clubs choosing Reebok but this marks the old English trainer maker’s re-entry back into the manufacturing and supplying of football kits.

Gravy boat

I am trying to work out when we will wear it, but the Addicks’ third strip got dropped today.

Actually it looks as it got dropped in a bowl of gravy, with all those specks over it. Sorry, did I say gravy I meant telescopic imagery and galactical visuals inspired by Greenwich’s Royal Observatory 🛸🔭

Begovic deal dead

Hardly surprising that a player that has played 250 Premier League games and more recently sat on the bench for expensively compiled squads earns a lot more than the rest of the Charlton payroll.

The only surprise is how long it took to get to that summation, but the Asmir Begovic to Charlton deal is off.

Nice, simple and red

Nice new kit. Simple and uncomplicated, and importantly it looks the right shade of red, which hasn’t been the case in the last couple of season’s.

Castore’s last, but best shirt I would say.

Nice but uninspiring

The black away kit completes the set of a nice but pretty uninspiring collection of Charlton kits this summer from Castore.

The away kit has a nod to past days with the green and purple stripe running diagonal across the shirt. Castore surely could’ve have been a little more adventurous with it, and I think most of us would rather see the white as the away and the black as the third kit.

Third kit threads

It feels like this white shirt and black short should be the second kit and not the third. Another simple and uncomplicated effort from Castore, when you normally see a bit more of artistic license on a 3rd kit.

White and black away days

As the club celebrates 30 years since the return to The Valley, the new white away shirt pays tribute to the hard-working volunteers and supporters who helped dig out the origins of the stadium in 1919.

Rising from the shell of an abandoned chalk pit in SE7, an army of volunteers helped dig out the area for the pitch, using the materials to build up makeshift stands in what was already a natural, and so The Valley was born.” (more)

New home kit

I’ve long since grown too fat old to worry about football kits, my only wish is that they get the home red just right.

However I do like this new Castore home number, based I believe on the early 1990’s ‘Woolwich shirt.’

New sponsors to go with new shirt manufacturers

Charlton announced new shirt sponsors last week.

RSK is the UK’s largest privately held environmental, engineering and technical services group, comprising over 130 companies employing 6,000 people and with turnover of £350.5m in 2021. They are based in Cheshire, but have subsidiaries across the globe and named after the three founders of the company.
